Explore the Once kit

The Once kit gives you what you need to begin recording a loved one’s stories and turning them into a book together.

Inside the box, you will find:

• A microphone for making clear recordings
• A notebook and pencil for your notes
• A short guide to help you begin
• An activation code for the Once app

Here’s how it looks like.

The box contains the tools. You bring your time, attention, and curiosity.

The beta price includes:

• One complete book project
• The Once kit and access to the mobile app
• Interview recording and editing tools
• AI assistance with planning, follow-up questions, and writing
• Five printed copies of your finished book
• Continued access to the app and digital book after printing

Once is not a subscription. There is no monthly fee and no deadline for completing your book.

During the beta, we are working closely with a limited number of families. Once currently supports English, Dutch – including Flemish – and Ukrainian.

If it isn’t for you #

If after your first recorded conversation you are not happy with Once, we will refund your payment – except for the €15 kit and shipping.

We can offer this because the first conversation tends to show what Once is really about: seeing someone familiar in a new light, and wanting to continue.

What happens after I make a request? #

Tell us a little about the person whose stories you would like to record. We will contact you personally, answer any questions, and explain the next steps.

Using Once in care or volunteer work #

Once can also be used by professionals and volunteers who record life stories with several people. A separate mode lets you create and manage multiple books.

Professional and volunteer projects have different pricing. Use the request form and tell us briefly how you would like to use Once.
